Tu B’Shvat is coming!

The full moon arrives on the 15th of Shvat, or "Tu" b'Shvat, the date marking the new year for trees. Despite the seeming depths of winter, we celebrate the signs of spring that are silently stirring. Almond blossoms will soon appear in Yerushalayim, and the sap will soon be starting to flow in the trees around us, silent but strong.

The Zoo Minyan will gather to celebrate a Tu b'Shvat seder in two weeks, on *Friday night*, February 6th.  Location: Woodley Park - More details to come -- as we collectively create them.

Last year was a true community event, with four different groups coming up with their own interpretations and rituals for each of the four worlds that we traverse through the seder. Since it was such a success, we're trying it again this year!

Groups are just starting to form -- there's plenty of room for people who want to help lead a group, play a small part, or lend a hand for logistics / food. We have plenty of resources (web sites, books, people, etc) for anyone who wants to learn more about the holiday, or about the kabbalistic minhagim (mystical rituals) that make up the seder. If you want to help create the seder, write back to info@ZooMinyan.org. If you want to volunteer to help with food, set-up, clean-up, and other logistics, write back to gwenr@workforcealliance.org.

Schedule Note: There will be a Tu b'Shvat seder on shabbat afternoon Feb 7th with DC Minyan. Also, on Feb 7th, Also, don’t forget the “first shabbat” Kabbalat Shabbat davenning at Adas Israel on Feb 6th -- Zoo Minyan will not conflict with either.

Would you like to help out?  We welcome volunteers to do a little
leyning, lead a little davenning, schlep torah scrolls, and provide
veggies. Send an email and volunteer today!
